# Punctuation

> Smart punctuation for dictated text

Smart punctuation infers sentence boundaries, commas, question marks, and quotation marks from prosody and syntax.

| Mode    | Behavior                                             |
| :------ | :--------------------------------------------------- |
| `off`   | No punctuation inserted                              |
| `basic` | Sentence-ending punctuation only                     |
| `smart` | Default — full inference including commas and quotes |
