# Formatting

> How dictated text is formatted for output

Default formatting rules:

* Numbers spoken as digits when amounts (`"five milligrams" → "5 mg"`)

* Abbreviations spelled out unless registered

* Dates normalized to `MMM D, YYYY`

* Vital signs normalized (`120 over 80` → `120/80`)

* Medical units normalized (`mg`, `mL`, `mmHg`)

Configure formatting per deployment in the Console.
