# Handling Transcript Segments

> Best practices for inserting transcript segments into the target editor

* Use interim results for preview only; persist on final

* Replace, don't append, the interim block

* Apply smart punctuation only on final

* Preserve span IDs so anchors can render against the canonical transcript

* Handle out-of-order finals (rare but possible)
